HURRICANE PREPARATIONS

HURRICANE PREPARATIONS:

PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY BUT MOST OF ALL PROTECT YOUR SELVES, YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR PETS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

If you are in an evacuation zone, please do evacuate as instructed.  Don't Debate - Don't be Late...EVACUATE!  Many hotels are pet friendly.  If you do not have internet access and need this information please contact me.  My internet is wireless and I have access to the information regarless of power or phone outages.  My lap top is always with me and I also have a portable RV claims unit so I can respond and assist you regardless of the weather.

Property:  Board up Windows, use sand bags near doors when in low lying areas.  Stack furniture and belongs up off the floor if possible.  Secure Locks on Doors and Windows. If remaining in your home, have a safe room ready.  The safe room should be in a hallway where the many door frames will protect you and be away from any windows.  Close interior doors for added protection and have a twin bed mattress available if possible.  Make sure that you have a means of egress or a way to get out of the home in the event that you must for safety purposes or for rescue.  If you have large trees on your property, be sure to keep them well trimmed and thinned out.  This aids in the wind being able to go through the tree so it will be less likely to break or fall on your building, home or vehicles.

Meesha says...Pets can evacuate only to certain designated locations, check in advance and please do not leave your furbabies behind if you can help it.  Pinellas County uses Oak Grove Middle School in Clearwater and Dunedin Middle School in Dunedin as pet friendly shelters as do many hotels and motels.

Above all think smart...think safe!
